Hi, I am Dorothy Holtermann, founder of Birth a Book and a seasoned book coach.

Throughout my career, I've had the honor of guiding hundreds of authors along their creative journeys. I've grappled with the unique challenges you may be facing right now - trying to write your book while also taking care of yourself can feel like an uphill battle.

Recognizing this struggle, I created the Birth a Book System. This special space is designed to foster your creativity while simultaneously encouraging self-care.

As a Birth a Book founder and author of the best-selling book "Love Food That Loves You Back," I've personally witnessed the transformative power of words. My book has touched thousands of lives, and it stands as a testament to what you can achieve with the right guidance and support.

Immerse yourself in our exclusive book writing and publishing intensive designed for those who aim to write books that ignite new careers, advance or expand health and wellness professions, or even initiate inspirational thought leadership. Over the past seven years, our award-winning events have been the birthplace of dozens of bestselling books.

Our intensive will be in the neighborhood of NoMad (North of Madison Square Park) at Luminary, a global networking workspace fully equipped with conference rooms, cozy nooks for writing and common areas for bouncing ideas off of your peers. Luminary is a female run co-op with a mission of uplifting and empowering all. You will be awed by this uniquely inspirational community. We will spend our full day here, from 10am-6pm, including an hour break to enjoy a provided healthy plant-based lunch.

After all of our hard work, from 6-7pm we will celebrate with a cocktail at Luminary's restaurant, The Glass Ceiling (wait until you see, it's named ironically), created by female winemakers.

If you're coming from out of town, you can take this opportunity to enjoy all that the city has to offer. Registration Requirements

This intensive is open to writers of all levels, from beginner to professional. It is perfect for nonfiction writers, however, fiction writers have come and made enormous inroads. How do you know if you’re 'a writer'? Because you write and can tell stories. However, I only want you to come if you yearn to make a loving, creative commitment to yourself.

Cancellation Policy

Need to cancel after paying in full? If you cannot come in person for any reason, you'll be given a credit for Birth a Book services. You can apply that credit to the next retreat or event, private coaching, editing, or our membership service!
