The Girl’s Guide to Swagger: A Woman’s Way to Power is the permission women need and want to feel their full confidence and to increase their success at work, home, and church; on the playing field and world stage; and in their relationships.
The book was born of the author’s experience working in male-dominated professions for the past 25 years. Her story is supplemented by the stories of real life women and their experiences of swagger and by the fruits of extensive research and development of the concept of swagger.
The Girl’s Guide to Swagger is about ordinary women, not superwomen. It’s about the reader’s coworker, neighbor, and friend who always seem to have it together and get what they want out of life. The book reveals the secrets of a more satisfying and empowered life through the application of high confidence to all professional and personal situations. Learn more here…

Dancing on Behalf of Life and Death by Sheila K. Collins

Within a ten year period of time, life circumstances called on me to accompany my best friend through her journey with breast cancer, my youngest son on his journey with AIDS, and my daughter through her breast cancer diagnosis and treatments, which included a bone marrow transplant. None of these experiences had a positive final outcome. Yet, and perhaps because of that fact, I felt compelled to share my story, to highlight the gifts that come wrapped in ugly, off putting packages.
These three journeys are woven into my memoir, Dancing on Behalf of Life and Death, and each journey is organized around the stages in an illness; getting the news, confirming the diagnosis, making treatment decisions, and exploring options for medicine and miracles. What I learned from my professional life as a social worker and family therapist didn’t always help me to cope as the caregiver. It was my familiarity with the expressive arts of dance, song, ritual, and storytelling that assisted me in taking care of myself and being more fully available in the caregiver role.
